DP World Tour: Michael Hollick wins BMW International Open as YouTube star Brad Dalke finishes in top 30 | Golf News

Michael Hollick produced an impressive eagle on the final hole to win the DP World Tour’s BMW International Open on Sunday, as YouTuber Brad Dalke completed a credible top-30 finish.

After overnight leader Hollick missed a par putt on the 16th, victory looked certain for fellow South African Hennie Du Plessis, who took a three-shot lead before a bogey on the 17th opened the door for his teammate.

After a birdie on the 17th, Hollick then created an opportunity for an eagle on the final hole with a superb shot and holed it from 20ft to finish with a final round 67 and win the tournament at 18 under.

“I was really calm all day and stuck to what I’ve done all week,” Hollick said.

“You start making a few birdies and it’s easy to start thinking too far ahead. I took it back and said to Dave, who coached me, ‘if I have a chance to win the tournament playing the back nine that’s what I want’.

“The funny thing was when I went to bed yesterday I was thinking that if I had the opportunity to make an eagle last night to win it, that would be something.”

He added: “It’s amazing. It’s given me and my family such a great opportunity.”

The result was brutal for Du Plessis (-17), who started the day two shots behind Hollick and Bernd Wiesberger and produced seven birdies in a final round of 66.

The only blemish on his final round came on 17 and even after missing his birdie putt on the final hole he would have thought he had done enough to at least secure a playoff. In the end, he had to settle for second place, one shot behind Hollick.

Austria’s Wiesberger (-14) tied for third with France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy and Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz tied for fourth (-12). England’s Marco Penge and Joe Dean were among the four players sharing ninth place (-9).

YouTube star disappears after early challenge

Earlier in the week, YouTube golfer Brad Dalke found himself surprisingly close to the top of the leaderboard in his DP World Tour debut, sitting two shots off the lead at the halfway point after a second-round 66.

Best known for his contributions to the popular Good Good YouTube golf channel, Dalke received a sponsor’s exemption to play in Munich and put himself through a Friday tournament that featured seven birdies and one drop shot.

However, his challenge faded on Saturday as he carded a five-bogey third-round 75 and followed it up with a one-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish five under for the tournament.

Dalke twice bogeyed the 11th on Sunday, recording a triple bogey to spoil his final round and drop to a par of 30.

The 28-year-old was an avid golfer in his youth, winning the 2015 PGA Junior Championship and finishing as runner-up at the US Amateur the following year which earned him a berth in both the Masters and the US Open in 2017, although he did not qualify.

He is now expected to play in the Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour at the end of the month.
