Transfer news and rumours: Southampton to sell Shea Charles, Englishman wanted by Wolves, Burnley, Celtic

Southampton midfielder Shea Charles has emerged as one of the most sought-after midfielders in English football this summer.

Leeds United tried again failed with two bids who fell ‘well below’ the number of Saints 22-year-olds.

Manchester United has been there it is loaded with interest Charles, and journalist Ben Jacobs says that Fulham and Crystal Palace have entered the race for his signature.

Jacobs added that due to the amount of interest in Charles, Southampton are now expecting a sale this summer.

Saints could demand up to £30m for the Northern Ireland international, who has played 76 times for the South Coast side, reaching the 2025-26 Championship play-offs following a strong but controversial second half for the club.

Charles has entered the final 12 months of his contract at St Mary’s and Southampton cannot afford a player of his caliber to leave on a free transfer next summer.

Wolves, Burnley, Celtic are all interested in Blake

Staying in the Championship, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing former Watford midfielder Adrian Blake.

The 20-year-old left Vicarage Road to join FC Utrecht in June 2023 and after three seasons in the Netherlands, clubs in England and Scotland are understood to want to sign him.

Sky Sports News he says Utrecht rejected Blake’s request from the Turkish team Kasimpasa in January when he was being looked at by other European teams, including the Premier League and the Championship.

Both Wolves and Burnley, who were relegated last season, are said to be interested in the Islington native along with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Blake, who scored a stunning Europa League goal against Celtic earlier this year, has made 63 appearances for Utrecht in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing five assists.

He is now in the final 12 months of his contract and is said to value Utrecht at around £2.5m.

The Juve boss is eyeing Milan defender Tomori amid Gatti’s uncertainty

Over in Italy, AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is being targeted by fellow Serie A side Juventus, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says the Old Lady have identified the England international with six caps as a possible replacement for Federico Gatti, who is expected to leave due to interest from Napoli.

Sporting director Ricky Massara previously worked for Milan and was key to Tomori’s signing from Chelsea in 2021.

Massara is said to still like the 28-year-old and believes there is a good chance the centre-back could open up a move to Turin.

Tomori, who reportedly turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur in January, it has been linked again and newly promoted Premier League side Coventry City, managed by Derby County defender and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

Over the past five years, Tomori has played 214 times for Milan in all competitions, winning the 2021-22 Serie A title and the 2024-25 Supercoppa Italiana.
