The fans were upset as the short-lived show was played during the last-16 tie of the World Cup
The fans were left confused during the halftime match between Switzerland and Colombia in the Last 16 of the World Cup.
Those in attendance at BC Place in Vancouver got more than they bargained for during halftime.

And while most used the break to relax or take a bathroom break, those who stayed in their seats were treated to a performance by American country band Rascal Flatts, fronted by Tom Cochrane.
They treated the fans to a live performance of their hit ‘Life is a Highway’ to help pass the 15 minute interval.
However, the performance caused a surprise among fans on social media who could not understand why the round of 16 match was chosen to hold the half-time schedule.
Mixed reactions
One fan wrote: “Why on earth is there a halftime show during R16’s game?”
Another had the same sentiment, writing: “Small time show in the round of 16?”
A third added: “Of course it’s not about the artist. It’s about the idea of the half-hour show. Don’t get involved.”
But it’s not all confusion among fans, some of whom are surprised by the half-hour offer.
One delighted fan wrote: “The Life Is A Highway halftime show is the only thing worth it.”
Another Whale added: “Tom Cochrane is playing ‘Life is a Highway’ on the halftime show. What a country.”
And there were smiles in the ITV studio as host Laura Woods enjoyed the song selection on offer.
Life is a Highway is ITV’s chosen theme song for the World Cup and it seems the song, released by Cochrane in 1991 and re-released by the band in 2006, is making a comeback.
“Since the start of the World Cup, it has grown by 13 million more than streaming on Spotify,” confirmed Woods when ITV broadcast the game.
The concept of live music in football remains a controversial topic among fans.
Pre-match fixtures have just been launched for the Champions League final and The Killers will play in this year’s final in Budapest before Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal take to the field.
FIFA has already confirmed that there will be a half-time match in the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19.
Madonna, Shakira and K-Pop band BTS are all set to headline the show at Metlife Stadium in New York.

Argentina is waiting
On the field, there was a lot of attention as Switzerland and Colombia fought for the right to face Argentina in the quarter finals this weekend.
Lionel Messi was instrumental in his team scoring two goals to beat Egypt 3-2 in Atlanta earlier in the day.
Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez headed the Albiceleste ahead in the dying minutes after Cristian Romero and Messi had pulled them back from the brink.
