Chelsea pre-season games: Schedule, how to watch and kick-off times

In what has become the norm under the BlueCo, Chelsea enter another pre-season with a new manager in charge.

The Spaniard has it just get a new quarterback in his team at the Marco Palestra, but the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid is expected to be followed by other top names and club members before the end of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea’s pre-season schedule was largely organized prior to Alonso’s arrival, and he now has the task of juggling a long tour of Australia and the Middle East.

Who are playing Chelsea in pre-season?

Despite not being in the Premier League until August 24, Chelsea look set for a pre-season campaign away from home.

Alonso’s opening game as Chelsea manager will be against A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers on July 28.

Three days later in a match that will be held again at the Accor Stadium with a capacity of 83,500 people, Chelsea will face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur which is the most anticipated match in their schedule.

Chelsea then leaves Australia for Hong Kong where Juventus will open on August 5, that game will be in Kowloon.

As it stands, their schedule will end on August 8 and August 9 with double headers against AC Milan and Johor Darul Ta’zim in Indonesia.

Although there is currently no indication that the match at Stamford Bridge can be played before the start of the new Premier League season, the weekend of August 15 and August 16 is still available.


How can I watch Chelsea’s pre-season games?

Chelsea have yet to officially confirm that their pre-season games will be broadcast, but fans will likely be able to watch the games via the official Chelsea app.

However, fans may have to pay a fee to access the games.


Who will play for Chelsea in pre-season?

Any players who have reached the Last 16 of the World Cup and beyond with their countries are not expected to start pre-season training until August.

Therefore, the likes of Reece James, Malo Gusto, Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto will be among those who will start life under Alonso later than their teammates.

That said, Chelsea have benefited psychologically from some star names, such as Levi Colwill, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, who missed out on World Cup selection and had a longer than expected rest period.

Alonso will want to control more of Chelsea’s players in the coming weeks, and that could result in all of their remaining players moving to the other side of the world.
