The last meeting

After that, Bellingham was the hero again in the quarterfinals against Norway, scoring both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory, coming from behind after a Norwegian goal in the first half.

Argentina advanced to Group J, beating Algeria 3-0, Austria 2-0 and Jordan 3-1 to finish top. Things have been going from bad to worse in the competition as the team has struggled to impose their skills on top of the rest of the talent, suggesting that a change may be needed to keep the dream alive. Cabo Verde came from behind twice in the round of 32 before Argentina eventually tied 3-2 in extra time. The round of 16 match against Egypt caused a huge scare, as Argentina found themselves 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go before Cristian Romero and Lionel Messi scored within four minutes to equalise, and Enzo Fernandez won it in the 93rd minute to come back 3-2. Switzerland pushed Argentina into extra time and into the quarterfinals, with Julian Alvarez’s surprise showing proving to be the difference in a 3-1 win that sent them back to the semi-finals.
