There are several big teams in preseason action this weekend.
Liverpool open their preparations for the 2026/27 season in the United States while Manchester United play tonight as part of their Northern European tour.

IT’S FRIDAY
Rosenborg v Manchester United (5pm)
United travel from Finland to Norway to face Rosenborg in Trondheim this afternoon.
Michael Carrick’s men lost their opening pre-season game, 1-0 to Championship side Wrexham on Saturday, with Sam Smith scoring the Wales side’s only goal in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki.
Carrick fielded an experienced XI for the first half with Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Bryan Mbuemo, Joshua Zirkee, and new signing Andrey Santos, all involved.
The same team should get more minutes against Rosenborg as this team’s World Cup participants are on vacation.
Tonight’s game will also see United’s new away kit used for the first time.

SATURDAY
Celtic v AC Milan (3pm)
Celtic, who just won the Scottish Premiership title last season, welcome AC Milan to Parkhead in an amazing friendly.
It gives new signing Camilo Duran another chance to impress after pre-season goals against Sporting CP and Middlesbrough. Fan favorite Daizen Maeda is unlikely to be involved as he is closing in on a move to Ipswich.
The game sees new Milan coach Ruben Amorim return to the UK immediately following his disappointing spell at Manchester United.

Liverpool v Sunderland (11pm)
The Merseysiders begin their pre-season campaign in Nashville with a game against Sunderland.
Andoni Iraola is still getting his feet under the table as Liverpool manager and a trip to the United States will help him get to know his players better.
The clash with the Wearsiders is the first of three games in the US which also includes games against Wrexham and Leeds.
New signing Jeremy Jacquet could feature alongside first team players Dominik Szoboszlai, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones but the first wave of World Cup returnees is not expected to arrive until next week.
Sunderland have taken a young squad with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Brian Brobbey still out.

ON SUNDAY
Auckland FC v Tottenham (4am)
Spurs open their tour of New Zealand and Australia with a game against A-League champions Auckland FC at Eden Park on Sunday morning UK time.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side knocked out MK Dons in midweek thanks to a fine goal from Mateus Fernandes and new signing will feature here along with new boy Sandro Tonali. Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson are also on the plane for the trip which includes the Sydney FC and Chelsea fixtures.
