Newcastle have had a bid for Lucas Bergvall rejected outright as Tottenham double their exit
Newcastle United have seen a £46million bid for Lucas Bergvall rejected by Tottenham Hotspur, TalkSPORT understands.
The Swedish midfielder has been told by Spurs that he is not for sale.

However, it is believed that an offer worth £50million could tempt the North London club to change their stance.
Bergvall told Spurs he wanted to leave the club last month following last season’s 17th-placed finish.
Tottenham have since maintained that the 20-year-old will not be allowed to leave this summer.
It follows interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa during the January transfer window.
Those clubs are reportedly still interested and have been joined in the race by Nottingham Forest.
Bergvall has been identified as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson following his £116million move to Manchester City.
Spurs appear to be in no rush to sell, even though Bergvall has five years left on his contract.
He signed a new contract with the club until 2031 15 months ago.
After signing for Djurgardens in 2024, Bergvall made 33 appearances in all competitions last term.
In those games, he scored once and added five assists.

Newcastle’s transfer woes
Newcastle’s rejected bid is the latest setback in what looks set to be another difficult transfer window for Eddie Howe’s side.
The Magpies have already seen Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali leave for Barcelona and Spurs, respectively.
Bruno Guimaraes could be the next major player to leave, with the Brazilian keen on a move to Arsenal.
An asking price of £100million has been placed on the 28-year-old in order to avoid interest.
Everton are also said to be interested in signing winger Jacob Murphy.
Meanwhile, Newcastle missed out on two transfer points after being snapped up by Premier League rivals.

Liverpool are keen to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna last month, while Aston Villa have since snapped up Switzerland’s Johan Manzambi right under Newcastle’s nose.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom, however, with Howe managing to make three signings so far this summer.
Bazoumana Toure, Sean Steur and Ewen Jaouen have all arrived in St. James’ Park.
Spurs are spending money
As for Spurs, they don’t seem to be in a rush to sell Bergvall despite wanting to fund manager Roberto De Zerbi’s overhauling squad.
More than £200million has been spent on Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, and the club’s transfer record has been broken twice in the process.
Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have all arrived on free transfers, for now.

The sale of Luka Vuskovic to Brighton & Hove Albion has had an impact on Spurs’ performance so far in the window.
Other arrivals could follow, with the club also open to offers for England defender Djed Spence.
